Entropy Process Revealed

Entropy Process Revealed

Discover the story behind Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK yarn and find out why we love it so much!

At Bare Naked Wool, we’ve made it our mission to keep things au naturel—no chemicals, no dyes—just the purest, highest-quality fibers around. We celebrate the beauty of natural, undyed yarns, allowing the fibers to speak for themselves. But when something truly special comes along, it would be selfish of us not to share it with you. That’s why we couldn't resist introducing Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK into our collection.

Feederbrook Farm, nestled in northern Baltimore County, Maryland, is a place where quality and care meet at every step. Run by Lisa, a talented hand-dyer and spinner, Feederbrook specializes in high-quality, breed-specific fibers. The farm is home to a unique flock of sheep, including Shetland, Bluefaced Leicester (BFL), Teeswater, and more. They tend to their flock with expert care, ensuring the wool remains pristine and full of character.

But what sets Feederbrook apart is the artistry that Lisa brings to the process. After the sheep are carefully sheared, the wool is meticulously processed, and the real magic begins. Lisa hand-dyes the fibers in small batches, creating vibrant color shifts and the signature barber pole effect that Feederbrook’s Entropy DK is known for. This process results in a one-of-a-kind yarn that is as beautiful as it is functional. The Entropy Process

Each skein of Entropy DK undergoes a carefully curated process that starts with selecting the finest fleece and ends with Lisa’s artistic hand-dyeing techniques. The unspun roving is hand-dyed in small batches using eco-friendly dyes, with each shade thoughtfully applied to enhance the wool’s natural character. This process preserves the wool’s softness while creating rich, vibrant colors. Once dyed, the roving is spun into yarn, resulting in stunning color shifts—making every skein a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Feederbrook’s commitment to sustainability is evident in every step of the process. The wool is dyed using eco-friendly techniques and is free from harmful chemicals. The result? A yarn that not only looks stunning but is also aligned with our own values of quality and sustainability.A Yarn for Every Project

Made from the luxurious Bluefaced Leicester (BFL), Feederbrook Entropy DK is soft, durable, and perfect for all your creative endeavors. Whether you’re knitting, crocheting, or even weaving, this yarn brings texture, depth, and richness to any project. The combination of BFL’s natural softness and Lisa’s expert dyeing makes it a yarn that’s truly special—and one we’re proud to carry in our collection.
