A rustic, cabled toque to knit in three sizes (S/M/L) and two yarn weights (worsted/bulky) for doing battle against deep-winter cold. Rich cable panels create a double-thick fabric that offers the ultimate in cozy protection for ears and forehead.

Suggested Yarns:
Stone Soup DK, Kent DK, Better Breakfast DK, Ginny DK, Confection Worsted, Kent Worsted, Targhee Tango Worsted, Better Breakfast Worsted, or any light worsted yarn with 200 yards per 100 grams. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Heavyweight: 20(22, 24) inches in circumference to fit heads up to 22(24, 26) inches around
Midweight: 18(20, 22) inches in circumference to fit heads up to 20(22, 24) inches aroundd
Yarn Requirements:
Heavyweight: 125(140, 165) yards
Midweight: 200(230, 260) yards
Gauge:
Heavyweight: 14 sts and 22 rows = 4 inches in stockinette (unblocked)
Midweight: 16sts and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (unblocked)
Needles:
Heavyweight: size 10US (6.0mm) 16-inch circular needle (or size to obtain correct gauge)
Midweight: size 9US (5.5mm) 16-inch circular needle (or size to obtain correct gauge)
